Mantra-A sound, syllable, word, or group of words to create transformation in our lives.
Mantras were born from Vedic tradition in India.
You can be of any religious background to experience the healing benefits.
When reciting, it is important to be relaxed and allow the sound to come from the heart.
Any practice of any ritual with a specific intention will bring about transformation, so the practice of mantra can be a great tool for you, or not. The practice of mantra can be very powerful in bringing transformation as well as healing the communication center-the throat. Mantra practice can sometimes bring transformation very rapidly or it may take longer, so allow for patience. It’s important to be aware of what energies each mantra brings, because not every deity works best for every individual, and some deities work well with us at different times in our life, so it’s good to experiment with awareness. When you find a deity that works beautifully with you, it can be great to dedicate your yoga asana practice to them, as a gift in return.
Some mantras I will provide youtube links for to give guidance on pronunciation. Some of the videos may seem a bit weird or are not the greatest in visual quality, but what I thought were the best in terms of getting sound across.
Ganesha Mantra (to remove obstacles. Ganesha is the deity depicted as an elephant; Remover of obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. Great to evoke when experiencing writer’s block! 😉
