New Album we are absolutely in LOVE with: Blue Soul Caravan-Pioneer the Light. I play a few of their songs in all of my yoga classes.

http://bluesoulcaravan.com/

Alex and Leela together create vibrations that take you on a journey through the space-time continuum, opening you up to laugh, sing, cry, and share all that is PURE LOVE. Alex and Leela are one with music, but are so humble presenting the songs in a simple way, allowing everyone to really open their hearts and consciousness to everything that is true. These songs touch me when I’m happy, sad, and everything under the sun. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing their album on their website or on Itunes.  You can sample the songs on their site. http://bluesoulcaravan.com/

Dave Deporis-All his albums Rock! Dave transcends the ego and shares music born from a place of exploration. With an open consciousness, he playfully and lovingly shares poetic beauty through his songwriting. Tingle the nerves of the soul and mind with these unique phrase and guitar couplings, and haunting voice! One of my favorite musicians out there today! David Byrne says he agrees 😉

This video is complemented with Dave’s song Rainbows, made by Boutique Yoga’s Co-Founder, John Kazar featuring beautiful Fergal O’Connor with Red models.

Ravi Shankar-Vision of Peace

Ravi Shankar is one of the most wonderful sitar players in the world! He is a household name from India all the way to the West in America. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the sitar, it is a stringed instrument, consisting of 20+ strings, including sympathetic strings, creating a drone within every strum. Ravi plays everything from classical Indian music and has teamed up with some of musics’ greatest leaders, from the Beatles (who helped him launch in the states, via Monterrey Festival 64′) to experimental music.

Vision of Peace album is a beautiful mixture of all music from the East, featuring koto playing virtuosity-Susumu Miyashita and Kaharwa tingling every nerve on the tabla (Indian drums), Hozan Yamamoto on shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), and Prodyot Sen, Sunil Kumar Banerjee, Mrs. Jiban, Mrs. Widya on tanpura (Indian drone instrument, stringed, but no frets like sitar). Ravi released this ground breaking album in a time where these fusions have never met. Ravi has always had a vision of people re-uniting from around the world, bringing peace and love to all.

Video Samples from Album:

I also LOVE this song by Ravi Shankar from 1987 (the year I was born 😉 called West Eats Meat. So ahead of its time, off the album Tana Mana. Play and Dance to this one!:

TABLA players we Love, Ustad Tari Khan. Has lots of videos teaching about playing tabla on youtube.

ZAKIR HUSSAIN-We love just about everything he does. Ustad (master) of the tabla (Indian drums). They say the evolution of man has progressed so much because of our mobility and use of our fingers and hands. I guess this makes Zakir a prime example of man’s gift.

Carioca:  we love all of his music!  Fusing traditional Brazilian music with fusions of jazz, rock, and more!

Sharing devotional music from a place of PURE LOVE.

LEARN ABOUT HOW TO PLAY TABLA: First video featuring vintage Ravi Shankar and Alla Rakha on tabla

Sharing Love and Devotion to the sacred ways of both North and South American indigenous cultures.

Healing songs, reminding us of where we came from and all there is to be thankful for.

Thank you Grandfather:

Thank you Grandmother:

We LOVE Moh Alileche, promoting Amazigh (Berber) music.

History-

Imazighen ( Berbers )

The word Berber as used in English is borrowed from the French word “Berbere”. The French thought that it came from Arabic, but in reality it refers to Barbarus (foreigner) or someone living beyond the Roman Circle. However, the native people of North Africa call themselves Imazighen in plural, Amazigh singular, meaning “Free & Noble People”.

The origin of Imazighen (first known inhabitants of North Africa) seems to be a mystery. Research has produced an abundance of educational speculation, but no definitive solution. Paintings of over 5000 years old are the most complete existing record of prehistoric North Africa (Tamazgha). Imazighen were invaded by, among others, Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantine, Arabs, Turks and French.
The language is called “Tamazight”, one of the oldest tongues in the world.
The script used in the ancient times is called “Tifinagh”, and is still being used in the south
by the Tamasheq (Tuareg) people, and some other regions in North Africa.

A lot of the youtube videos have poor song quality, but can give you an idea.  Albums can be purchased on Itunes and through their site: http://www.flagoffreedom.com/discography

Live Performance:

Loreena McKennitt-All of her albums are phenomenal. Our celtic sister celebrates the mystery of life through her inspiration to travel and absorb the beauty of all peoples’ colors, painting a unified vision of living. Enjoy her haunting, beautiful voice.

WOODY GUTHRIE– I don’t know where to start with him. He was one of Bob Dylan’s BIGGEST influences, for starters. His tale is a neverending journey of the open road. A man who has experienced such great losses in his life. He was one of the first folk singer songwriters, creating a unique style of storytelling. So much truth and humor on seemingly ugly topics. One of our favorite poets! http://www.woodyguthrie.org/index.htm

NEIL YOUNG- We LOVE us some banjo

Pink Floyd, Echoes in Pompeii never gets old! Swim in the celestial plane my friends 😉

The Police, one of the best mainstream bands to plant esoteric elements of existence into the laps of masses.
